Zu der Standalone-Version zu DayZ ist am heutigen Mittwoch das große Update 0.44 offiziell erschienen. Neben zahlreichen Fehlerbehebungen bringt das Update den lange erwarteten Bogen, die Armbrust, Ferngläser und weitere Inhalte mit sich.
Bereits seit einigen Wochen befand sich Update 0.44 zu DayZ Standalone in einer experimentellen Testphase, doch nun scheinen die gröbsten Fehler beseitigt worden zu sein, weshalb bereits am heutigen Mittwoch der offizielle Release des Updates stattgefunden hat. Wie den offiziellen Patch-Notes von Steam entnommen werden kann, bringt das Update einige interessante Neuerungen mit sich. Dazu zählen etwa der Bogen sowie die Armbrust – doch auch ein Fernglas findet seinen Weg in die Standalone-Version.
Wie im Vorfeld bereits angekündigt, wird innerhalb des Updates auch ein Physik-System implementiert, welches allerdings zum aktuellen Zeitpunkt noch nicht fehlerfrei funktioniert. Dafür dürfen sich DayZ-Spieler über das neue Dorf 'Marmanovka' sowie über neue Spawn-Gebiete freuen. Außerdem ermöglicht das Update das Zuschlagen mit einer Pfanne und einem Kochtopf. Steam lädt das rund 370 Megabyte große Update automatisch herunter.

Known Issues:
- Binoculars not functioning properly in crouch and prone states.
- Thrown objects moving at a slow frame rate during peak server load
- Crossbow damage higher than desired
- Player breathing in first person louder than desired
- Ongoing melee balancing has zombies more resilient to body impacts. (Aim for the head)
- Accelerated Time falls out of sync after extended uptime (disabled for this update)

- Animations: Player's "naked eye" max zoom level lowered. It allows for the same max zoom as iron sights.
- Gear: Improvised courier bag and taloon backpack shows their damage state in inspect window

- Gear: FNX45 red dot sight optics renamed and now requires 9V battery in order to work
