Via Reddit teilte Matthew Higby, der Creative Director hinter PlanetSide 2, seinen Abgang bei Daybreak Games mit. Der wichtigste Mann hinter dem MMO-Shooter sucht nach neuen Perspektiven.
Gestern erreichte die Community von Daybreak Games (ehemals Sony Online Entertainment) der nächste harte Schlag: Matthew Higby gab seinen Rücktritt bekannt. Der Chef hinter PlanetSide 2 plane schon lange, sich aus dem Projekt zurückzuziehen und nach neuen Aufgaben zu suchen. Die aktuellen Vorgänge bei Daybreak Games, die Entlassung vieler Mitarbeiter und die Trennung von Sony Computer Entertainment, haben seine Entscheidung wohl letztlich vollendet. Er bedankt sich in einem Schreiben auf Reddit bei der Community, für die er seit vier Jahren an PlanetSide 2 gearbeitet hat.
In dieser Woche trennte sich Daybreak Games unter anderem von David Georgeson, dem Gesicht von EverQuest, was in der Community für einigen Wirbel sorgte. Außerdem wurde bekannt, dass SOE kurz vor dem Aus stand und sich deswegen mit Investor Columbus Nova einlies und zu einem unabhängigen Studio wurde.
Matt Higby betont in seinem Schreiben aber, dass PlanetSide 2 weiterhin in guten Händen sei. Ebenso wie Georgeson war Higby für seine offene Art bekannt, viel Kontankt mit den Spielern zu pflegen. Er war aktiv auf Reddit, Twitter, Twitch und im Forum des MMO-Shooters.

Today was my last day on the Planetside 2 team and at Daybreak games. This is a move I've been considering for a while now, and the reorganization provided the right opportunity for me to exit.
Planetside 2 is in great hands, with terrific people who honestly care about the game and the players. I can't stress this enough, the folks working on every aspect of the game, developers, marketing, community are talented, hard working people who care more than you can imagine – I'm fully confident they're going to do an amazing job on the next leg of the journey.
Finally, I wanted to thank all of you in the Planetside 2 community with whom I've shared the last few years, whether in stream chat, tweets, pms or comments you guys have motivated and inspired me all along. You are an amazing community that I'm looking forward to remaining a member of for a long time.
